I wonder about a word that means “having shed an unwanted burden” or the loss of a heavy weight you’ve been carrying around. I’ve been trying to title a poem that expresses that feeling and don’t have any good words or short phrases.
I’ve been checking out your archive - this is fantastic!
I did a quick look out on the blogosphere and the only thing I found is “Xernia” from Greek meaning to not be a burden to one’s host. I will certainly keep an eye out for something to that effect! I feel like it would definitely have one out there.
Glad you’re enjoying the blog!
Hey guys, just gonna let you know that I have more words comin. Just been really busy with college and work. Also, if you have any words, please suggest them!
Would you guys like to see the continued use of the approximate transliterations (e.g. Weltschmerz: VELT-shmerz) or update all words using the International Phonetic Alphabet (also seen here) (e.g. Weltschmerz: vmɛɐ̯tsɛltʃ])and use the IPA in the future?
While the IPA is more effective in describing the intrinsic sounds, many people are unable to read it effectively.
Which would you like to see?
